SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF DIFFERENT GRAPHITE BASED NANO-FILLERS AND THEIR COMPOSITES

Abstract

Carbon has diverse allotropes, among which graphite is one of its allotropic form. Graphite as a nanofiller has different types, but in this research work three well known nano-fillers, which are XGNPs, GO and rGO are include. Different methods for the synthesis of these nano-fillers are reported, but in this research work, chemical methods by different acid routes was applied for their synthesis. By mean of different chararacterizations, synthesis of these nano-fillers was confirmed. From XRD pattern, size, d-spacing, as well as 2θ Value were calculat-ed by mean of JCPDS-Card, which shows that these nano-fillers are successfully synthesized. FT-IR for GO and rGO also confirm the attachments of different functional groups as well as successful removal of these groups. Surface morphology for these nano-fillers were deter-mined by mean SEM, which also confirm the successful synthesis of these nano-fillers. Composites was synthesized with epoxy resins 5052 and rGO, which enhanced different properties such as: reflectance, shielding by mean of DRS was find and conductivity of the blank pure epoxy 5052 and reinforced epoxy with different carbon nano-fillers such as rGO synthesized through acids routes were measured by using a KEITHLEY multi-meter of low Voltage Source Meter, Model 2401 Instrument, A Tektronix Company with measurement capabilities of (1μV-20V and 10pA-1A).
